Being Barefoot

Once upon a time I spent too much time around someone who didn’t want me to go barefoot.

Basically …

…it felt like living covered in cement.

These days, I go barefoot any ol’ time I please.

It’s not that I mind being considerate of other people’s wishes. To be sure, in Christ we are to consider others more highly than ourselves.

I think some people’s wishes, though, can be oppressive.

And like we can’t earn good standing before God with good works, nor can we earn someone’s respect by tip-toeing around their every command.

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1
