Tight Eyes

My sister is a lawyer.

And she’s married to a lawyer.

And she manages a team of other lawyers, too.

It’s a lot of lawyering, over here.

She writes, reads and edits thousands and thousands of pages a year.

And though she already knows that which I am slowly learning

(namely: that editing could be endless, but that at some point you must simply say, “enough is enough.”),

she also knows that when you’re looking at ink on paper…

or words on screen…

you must edit meticulously.

Put on “tight eyes” and edit like it’s the last edit your words will see.

Words have power.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
