Now You See It …
I am older than I used to be. But younger than that now (Dylan circa 1964).
I feel more like a kid than before, though, to be sure, I’m an adult.
My youth is gone, no longer to be seen on the pages of my many faces.
But I have not yet begun to fight (John Paul Jones, 1779).
I pay my bills on time and have spreadsheets for managing my budget. I go to work day after day and keep my house tidy and clean. I eat fruits and vegetables and drink cup after cup of plain ol’ water.
I am adept at adulting.
But I’m just a kid playing on the playground, too.
I binge Netflix on Saturdays. I buy chocolate covered marshmallows at Walgreens for 75% off the week after Easter. I love mini, squishy soft stuffed animals.
I am an adult who’s getting younger day after day.
Not creeper like Benjamin Button.
I’m talking about my spirit.
“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:16-18, ESV)
