The Truth About Vampires
There’s a surprising/not surprising correlation between the idea of vampires (circa Vampire Diaries) and the reality of sin. Just take a look …
Vampires can’t come inside unless you invite them in. Sin can’t take you down unless you flirt with it.
The blood lust of vampires dulls over time as the vampire becomes desensitized. Sin, when embraced, makes the sinner increasingly comfortable with the sin until they’re fully convinced it’s not that bad.
Vampires must be careful when they start drinking blood because once they start, it’s hard to stop. Sin, once clutched, is addictive and (as they say) will cost you more and take you farther than what you bargained for.
In order for vampires to endure being vampires, they must “turn off” their humanity. In order to endure living in sin, the Christian must step away from intimacy with God and “turn off” their quest for righteousness.
Vampires can’t live in the sunlight. Sin can’t live in the light of Christ. Both can only survive by hiding in the dark.
The older a vampire is, the stronger they become and the more difficult they are to destroy. The longer you live with sin, the more likely it is to become a stronghold and the more difficult it becomes to walk away.
Vampires can’t procreate. Sin won’t allow you to bear good fruit.
Vampires are hot but will destroy you. Sin, too.
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
